The West is a place to ask hard questions.
Derek Cornett is an author and school counselor in North Liberty, Iowa. His Honest Violence novels explore what happens when justice, survival, and conscience pull people in different directions.
At the heart of the saga are relationships: the people who earn one another’s trust, the loyalties that survive pressure, and the sacrifices that change what a life is worth.
The violence has consequences. A gunshot may end a confrontation, but the story continues with the people who must carry it. Justice and revenge are difficult to separate; redemption takes more than a promise.
Through Coyote Bend and the wider frontier, Derek writes about those choices—and about the possibility of finding something worth protecting after everything a person has done.
